At the Jokhang Monastery in Lhasa, every afternoon the monks work on their debating skills in teams of two; the point is to convince your opponent. One is seated, the other standing, like a true wordsmith warrior, gesticulating, hands frantically in the air, going back and forth at a hammering pace, trying to catch the attention of his adversary. The atmosphere is serene and relaxed and visitors are welcomed as long as they don't partake in the debates. Vitality, humour and strength of conviction - these monks truly live in the present moment.
